 Trellised Porch Addition

Location:  Spring Lake, Michigan
Complete: 2007

Having moved from a turn-of-the-century cottage overlooking Lake Michigan to a newer home on a nearby inland lake, the goals of the owners for this project were to improve the views to the lake and to add interest and character to the contemporary detailing of the home’s exterior.  After exploring several possible room and deck additions, Phase I became the reconfiguration of the deck at one end of the house.  In addition to nicely framing the lake view and providing a needed privacy screen, the new trellis creates a play of light in the late-afternoon sun.
