The LIFT Foundation saw an opportunity to quickly respond to the urgent need for affordable housing in the Kalamazoo community. The Foundation purchased a former motel with the plan to re-purpose it into a 60-unit studio apartment permanent housing community. Located within historic Vine Neighborhood in central Kalamazoo, the site in a very walkable area close to downtown, entertainment, shopping and medical services.

The extensive property conversion was designed to provide for the basic needs of the residents. On-site management and on-site support services are available. Each unit is fully furnished and equipped with a full kitchen and bathroom, heat and A/C, and a high-speed internet connection. All utilities are included. The property also includes ample bicycle storage, a community room, on-site laundry and an outdoor picnic and grilling area. Parking for residents with vehicles is provided on-site.
